New to fire alarm. Did a run, but my conduit running from one device to another is closer than 4ft. It goes one direction, enters another room, then goes back the same direction on the opposite side of a cinder block wall. Is this still a violation?

Is it 4ft separate no matter what, or in the same room?

That is not in the NEC. It it is anywhere it would be in NFPA 72. I did not find a specific rule in the actual text of the document, but the following is from Annex A. Note, that just like the in the NEC, the annexes in NFPA 72 are informational and not enforceable text.
A.12.3.8
A goal of 12.3.8 is to provide adequate separation between the outgoing and return cables. This separation is required to help ensure protection of the cables from physical damage. The recommended minimum separation to prevent physical damage is 12 in. (300 mm) where the cable is installed vertically and 48 in. (1.22 m) where the cable is installed horizontally.
