A room is being constructed to for manufacturing /testing Biological Medicines. The size of room is only 20ft. by 30 ft. The process involves Ethanol (Flammable). We are changing all electrical recepticles/light fixtures, equipment and light switch to Class I, Division II, Group C/D.

For wall construction, I was planning two layers of 5/8" drywall. Is that sufficent? Where is it referenced in codes? Plant is in Maryland.

TIA

This is a building code issue and UL fire rating specification issue. Once it has been determined that certain fire rating s will be needed for a particular area or room, this type of information needs to be engineered based on the exact specifications and conditions. Check with your AHJ.
