I am aware of the NEC requirements for classifying a vehicle showroom in the same building with a Major Repair Garage. If a showroom were not a classified area per NEC 2008 511.3 (E)(1) Modifications to Classification, my question is, Would the showroom still be a classified area due to vehicles with fuel (gasoline) in them being stored in the showroom area. Specifically, would floor receptacls be allowed in the area?

The only reason for it to be classified is because of the repair shop. Eliminate the repair shop or provide sufficient barrier to separate the areas and it is not a classified area.

Transfer or handling of gasoline in the show room is not likely. This show room is safer from presence of gasoline than many residential garages that are not classified.
