There is no clearance in the NEC,but then again, the utilities don't have to comply with the NEC. There is also nothing in the International Fuel Gas Code that addresses it. I would recommend talking with you utility.
 
If it's a utility gas line for residential. We normally space our wires in conduit 1ft away. If not in conduit, then this is another story. Just my 1 cents. As ryan said, your serving utility should have the answer to your question.
 
Keep them far enough apart that you have room to repair them.
If you digging with a backhoe, you'll be using a 24" bucket, so go with 18".
 
Out in our neck of the woods we use 12" separation (either horizontally or vertically) so that there is room to repair one utility without interfering with the other(s). This is an agreement which evolved and is accepted by all around here. Check with your AHJ and utilities in your area and see what they are doing.
