Would like to have supervisor " put it in writing " but this is the real world and in this new corporate world that would not be good for me . There were witnesses that I informed him of this but his words were basically that he didn't G A S !

How do you test volts when the power is off?

How do you test amps when the power is off?

The first condition I would consider would be is the OCPD for the equipment readily accessible & able to be locked off -- you can always test voltage & amperage there -- controls though may have several types of voltages from transformers & fusing for internal circuitry. An ohm meter could work for both but are rarely used due to the process. Sometimes it comes down to reasonable man concept which can be part of a court proceeding. IMHO safety first

You can choose to do a continuity test to verify the conductor or switching component.

How do you test amps when the power is off?

That does not have to be done hot, kill power, put meter in place, restore power.

Again, there is virtually no troubleshooting that must be done with exposed live equipment or parts. It is simply easier to do it live
