would like input on clearences for 13800 volt switch gear. i have a 13800 volt y system switchgear and a sheetrock wall opposite the switch gear. is it 4 ft. or 5 ft.
thanks vin

Vin,
Is the system a grounded system? I know that you said it is a wye system, but sometimes, where no single phase loads are served, XO is floated and you have an ungrounded wye system. If XO is floated, the voltage to ground is 13,800 volts and if XO is grounded the voltage to ground is 7980 volts.

Don, I do not deal with alot of primary. I always though that in that range the primary was 12,470 phase to phase and 7200 phase to ground. Is the 13,800 considered the same thing?

There are a lot of variations of the primary voltage. Some other commonly used ones are 7200/12470Y, 7620/13200Y, 14400/24940Y, and 19920/34500Y, in addition to the 13,800 in the original post.

yes it is . the high voltage feeds the transfomer that steps it down .
its one piece of gear . , thats why i'm thinking it's 4 ft. in front of the 13800
switch.
