clinical space and exam rooms

I'm looking for a clear definition of clinical space in a hospital. I thought it was a very broad term covering any area where patients are seen or tested or have a procedure done or an X-Ray. Apparently that's the case. I notice for example that one hospital in our area, indicates in their lighting standards, a color temperature of 3500 for exam rooms and 4000 for clinical spaces. I'd have thought an exam room WAS a clinical space?

Clinical spaces= outside the exam rooms like nursing stations, etc?
