Re: closet receptacles

There really isn't any. Or at least, nothing that restricts or requires receptacles in a closet.

Do you have a specific question?

Re: closet receptacles

What is it that you are trying to do (or trying to avoid having to do)?

Re: closet receptacles

what type of equipment is going to be connected in the closet?
Did a warranty call last week lights in master bath dim when ironing. The H.O. had told the builders design center that they wanted an outlet in the master closet to iron with. The addendums had 1-120v recep.on existing circuit that`s what they got.To makle matters worse their warranty man told the H.O. that there was to much on the circuit. It fed the garage keyless x 2 a 2x4 flouresent in the laundry room and the mater bath and closet lights. All those on 6.3 amps plug in the iron and 18.1.I laughed and he got mad said he was going to get another EC to look and see if it is overloaded, the circuit that is.Well I tried to explain that other than required dedicated circuits his 1948 sq ft home only had to have 4 g.p. circuits I left.Guess he will get a surprise when told the same thing by another EC after he pays their bill.By the way there are 3 AFCI circuits and 5 G.P circuits in the home the builder``s sales screwed up.Should have been a P.O. for a dedicated receptacle 20 Amp.Still am wondering how this will turn out?Guess it will be a P.O. for $195.00 to add a circuit. :D

Re: closet receptacles

use to see these kind of problems in Naples. They asked for additional outlets in a 2 car garage. What they needed was dedicated circuits as they turned them into small apartments. If i talked to them first i exsplained that while i dont care about there illegal apartment ,it would be legal and not cost that much to do it right and install several dedicated outlets for the frig, microwave, mini kitchen ,etc.
If you only ask for a 120 volt receptacle then thats all you get.
As to receptacles in closet i know of no violations no matter what its for.
hmmmmm ironing in a closet
