Help my poor memory out, I have not done any new residential in 4 years. The house I am doing has the master BR on one end and 2 BR's on the opposite end. There will be no garage but there will be a vent less LP gas fireplace in the living room. Am I remembering it correctly that I will need a combo smoke/CO detector in the hall out side of the master and one in the hall outside of the other 2 BR's with every thing interconnected to the smokes in the BR's?

Depends on the state/AHJ. This is a very good chart of all the states, but check the with state individually.

2009 IRC 315.1 for Co and 314.4 for smokes

If this is new construction and your jurisdiction follows the IBC the answer is very likely "yes". Also, you may be required to put a CO detector by the gas fireplace as well.
