I am designing a Carbon monoxide detection system for a nursing home and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for proper sequence of operation for the CO alarm panel.
I have designed somethin already but I believe engineering is not an individual effort.

Re: CO sequence of operation

You are not "re-inventing the wheel", are you ?
There are bound to be standard, proven designs out there somewhere. I do not have any, though, sorry.

Re: CO sequence of operation

I have searched almost everywhere. Google, Looksmart etc. nothing seems to pop up.

well i guess i will keep searching or the wheel might have to developed from scratch.

Re: CO sequence of operation

When I get involved in the design of a facility that will have special systems for fire alarms, security alarms, or CO alarms, my activities are generally limited to showing devices on the plans, and leaving the detail design to the specialty systems contractor. The company chosen to provide the fire alarm system, for example, is directed (by the project specifications) to provide drawings and cut sheets of their own system?s design.

So my question would be, have you asked a local vendor?s representative for assistance?

Re: CO sequence of operation

thank you. I thought about that but i tried to rely on myself first. The project is in the beginning stages so I haven't chosen any specific vendor necessary for the project.

i will be doing that soon.

Re: CO sequence of operation

I spent good money getting the NFPA's CO detector installation standard, only to read "follow mfr instr." The std also noted to be prepared for false alarms.

Re: CO sequence of operation

You don't really have to pick a vendor to get thier assistance, just call silent knight or another manufacturer and ask them for a sequence of operation, there may even be one on their website.

Re: CO sequence of operation

is it recommended to shut down the fossil fuel HVAC system when a carbon monoxide alarm goes off?

i would presume so.
