If one has any reason - that is job related - to purchase a code book, it's a write-off....just like boots, tools, pencils and paperweights :)

Well, it can be both a personal expense and a deductible expense. Personal just means you're taking it out of your own pocket first, before taking it out of someone else's pocket later. :)

Right here.
I generally end up with a few. One or two from supply houses. At least one from a specific vendor. At least one from a code change class. Seldom do I have to actually buy the soft cover. I like to buy the CD at least every other edition, for the search feature.

I don't understand the first option:

It is a personal expense to me !

How is that possible?

Are there people that just like to read lenghty works of non-fiction with no apparent plot :D

Oh Granted, I did give that a minor thought , but went with it cause day in day out average joe doesn't care or know of the extents of their US TAX code. Keep those reciepts, I want to quote the Tax Code, but my book keeper went to her book club meeeting ...

Drumming up votes:

Yes it is a personal tax deduction, my eyes started watering up when she told me how it works.

It is a deduction due to it being an expense that the employee incurred
and related to work... where one applies it, I pulled the selective listening trick.

So Vote, :)
