How often do you update your NEC books ?
Actually every two for us, because I have to get the next code book before it's adopted so that I can start learning and train the rest of the department. Even though we are cycle behind most of the rest of the country.
That still makes it every three years.
It's adopted every three, it's actually out before that. The 2008 was already out in 2006 or 2007 or at least the first edition was. The 2011 will be out sometime late next year I believe. But you may be right, I ran out of fingers.
Unless I misinterpreted it, the '08 NEC states the '11 won't be out until Sept. 2010.
the 08 code came out in 07 too. thats when i got mine  they usually come out october or november of the year before the book is official
Check close to the back.... right after the index and before the Proposal for the '11 pages. There's the whole schedule for it.
best part of the code book coming out is my local IAEI does a 2 day seminar called supercode. they talk about all the proposed changes that might or might not show up in the code book. a lot of big names in the electrical industry show up and speak. if im not mistaken i think mike holt was there a couple years ago.
Contact the NFPA right after the ROPs come out and ask for a copy. That'll tell you what was proposed, and what did and didn't make the cut.
but its more fun to listen to everyone complain and boo the new codes
Like we do here?
