It's adopted every three, it's actually out before that. The 2008 was already out in 2006 or 2007 or at least the first edition was. The 2011 will be out sometime late next year I believe. But you may be right, I ran out of fingers.

Yeah the math is the same if a book is labled 08 but comes out in 07 the one previous is labled 05 but came out in 04. hmm 07-04=3 years so it really doesn't matter if you start a year early you still have to wait 3 years before the next one comes out.
but maybe you only have two fingers and the rest were blown off or cut off sticking them in the wrong places I don't know.

(No, really, we did!)

Suppose..... just suppose..... I answered all the questions on your test correctly?

I "Update" every three years. One paper back and one Hardcover Handbook.
My wife hates the new code cycle. She does'nt see me for 2 weeks while
I review the change.Plus she thinks a NEC on top of the toilet is plain tacky.
I don't see the problem.:D

It's my nose I usually stick in the wrong place.

You're right, here in CA though we don't adopt the NEC per se, we adopt the California Electrical Code (CEC), which is based on the NEC, which is published two years after the NEC, so while some of you are on the 2005 NEC, we're on the 2007 CEC. We won't adopt the 2008 until 2010 and the 2011 til 2013. So I was thinking that I will have a 2008 next week, but we won't adopt it until 2010 so by my math, the code book comes out three years before we adopt it. Wait that's still every three years just a different three years.

and I've got at least one good finger.:D

In San Diego the AHJ here enforces the 2005 NEC for inspection.
When I submit my drawings to plan check they require that I'm
CEC complaint.Yet only check my Title 24 calcs and VA loads.
