Are any of you familiar with book from Tauton Press called code check for electrical? I have heard someone talking about it and they thought it was great. I don't want to buy one without having seen one or hearing more opinions. I don't want to suggest to my students without having seen it, either.

Did you Scan your local Library, most have computer access.
Any large mortar/brick Book Stores around you ?
Say 22.00 total for the book, thats Half the price of anything I'm Buying these days, of course I Like Books. It looks like a great one... :roll:
 
Thanks for the replies, I am going to buy 2. One for myself and one for a friend. After I receive them I'll evaluate in terms of recommendations.

A guy I used to work for, claimed he used to work for the guy who started doing the electrical one. He also lived in a county that has relitivily few Building Departments, (Some of the richest people in the nation though...) and the highest density of hack work I have ever seen in a single geographical area. So apparently there was a need for people to be able to inspect homes themselves...

While they could be helpful for the homeowner for the rather limited selection of codes (15-20 laminated pages in big font and pictures.) - I don't think any professional should be relying on one. Nor would I suggest it to students. Sure its great at breaking down a relitive few codes into cartoon like pictures for the laymen with some code refferance, but is a waste of money for someone who should be learning a lot more. The NFPA NEC Handbook is money much better spent for something with illustrated examples of codes. Yes, it cost 10X's as much, but has 1000% more.
 
I too am not a fan of "checklists", especially not for inspectors. Inspecting off a checklist makes you lazy and narrow sighted.

While this practice may allow for consistent inspections, it could also lead to many errors and ommisions so to speak.
