I just have to ask if this is code compliant. I recently was asked to fix a drain problem with some underground jboxs. This is how I was told to fix the problem. Heres the layout. One Pvc j box with 3 pvc conduits coming up into the box. One of the conduits contains the feeds going downhill about 75 ft into the electrical room. Problem is someone ran over the j box and broke the cover and water is getting in the conduit and coming up in the electrical room. To aleviate this I was told to put in another jbox where the HR pipe comes out from under the footer and put a drain pipe in it. So that what I did. The conduits containing conductors I put in as far to the top of the box as I could and the drain pipe I put in at the bottom of the box, so hopefully when it rains again the water will drain out before it reaches the taps!! These jboxs are flush with the surface of the ground by the way, and no I wasnt told to replace the broken cover either. Just another temp fix for my company. The job is under warranty so Im guessing there hoping there will be another problem in the future so they can go back and charge for the fix the next time to get there money back.
