I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE GUAGE OF WIRE IS CODE FOR THE CROSSARM WIRING IN A SPORTSLIGHTING POLE.THE MANUFACTURER HAS SUPPLIED 16 GUAGE WIRING TO EACH SPOT WHERE A FIXTURE WILL BE MOUNTED. IS THIS CODE FOR NEW YORK CITY? THE WIRING IN THE POLE TO THESE CROSSARMS IS 14 GUAGE AND THEN 16 GUAGE TO THE FIXTURES IN THESE COMPARTMENTS.

If this is internal wiring that is supplied by the manufacturer, they must have had the equipment tested and listed as manufactured. It should then be approved by the AHJ. It sounds like the wiring is being considered fixture taps.

Fixture wiring is covered in NEC Article 402 which also references Art 240. Look at 402 and see if it applies....
