Conductors with temperature ratings higher than specified for termination's shall be permitted to be used for ampacity adjustment, correction, or both.

Is this true or false, and please provide a code reference?
It should be word for word if true, or will likely read "...termination's shall NOT be permitted..." if false. I have been looking and can't seem to find the code ref.

The person who wrote these code questions regrettably passed away in January, so I can't ask him, and he apparently didn't leave an answer key. I am taking over his teaching duties and am trying to do it right so he won't come and haunt me (which I assure you is not out of the question for him!).

Thanks in advance for the help.

You, sir, are a lifesaver! That is exactly the reference I was looking for. Now I can sleep without the ghost of a crotchety (but wonderful) old man haunting my dreams.
BTW, Ott Lesshaft was his name. He was my friend (Something I do not say lightly of anyone) and, judging from your postings here, he would have liked you.
Thanks again.

matt, if you hang around in here and discuss code long enough, you should be eliugible for an honorary law degree. :D

NYS for other than dwelling units references the NEC in its entirety.
For multi family dwellings (3 and more dwellings) one also refers to the NEC in its entirety.
For 1, and 1&2 family dwellings one will refer to the NYSRBC if the service is 400 amps and less.
If the service is greater than 400 amps, then all 1, and 1 & 2 family dwellings refer to the NEC in its entirety.

Hold on... NYS doe not think that is hard enough for the average person to follow, so they are working on making it more complicated.
