Hey, all! New to the forum. Thank you for having me. My city (Kankakee, IL) follows 2005 NEC (just FYI). Need some advice today, please. The main GFCI circuit for my shop in my unfinished basement is in 1/2 EMT, with all TR 3 prong outlets wired off the LOAD side of that circuit's self-grounding GFCI (all downstream outlets are GFCI protected, as a result). I used new 12 gauge THHN wire with 2 conductors There is no ground wire on this 20 amp circuit. In my furnace room (6 feet from the entry way to my main shop area, and the wall is between my furnace room and my main shop area), I added a double gang (stud mounted) electrical box for 2 duplex receptacles. I spliced the 2 wire system from a junction box for the earlier mentioned main shop GFCI circuit, and ran a 4 foot length of Flexible Metal Conduit, and made my connections. Does this violate NEC 250.130C even if I used a length of FMC less than 6 feet? I had not planned on extending my original circuit when I wired it last year, otherwise I would have ran a ground then. I really like this addition of GFCI receptacles, but not if I am in breach of NEC. Please advise and I hope I explained this all well. B
