Code requirement for drop soffit height for utility lines in the corridors

Hi Guys,

I design one mixed-use project this month.

From first floor to fifth floor, the building is used as residential units.

The architect wants to know the drop soffit requirement in the corridor for utility lines(Power conduits?).

Is there any code requirement? Is 8" sufficient?

I really appreciate any suggestion.
