Hello All,
I have a customer who wants me to provide him a code section that requires conductors to be protected. IE they must be in pipe or some other suitable raceway. I came up with 300.4. Would there be any other section you would recommend?

I assume you are referring to bushings and such. 300.4 is for conductors #4 and larger, but see the articles for threaded RMC and IMC which always need bushings and PVC in certain cases depending on the fitting.

I would look at the specific articles for each wire type involved.
THHN/THWN, for example, must be run in conduit or raceway. PV wire and type ER Tray Cable need not.
Some multiconductor cable types may be run inside walls or run exposed as long as they are not (in the judgement of the AHJ) subject to physical damage.
I do not know of any general statement that applies to all wire and cable types.

following GoldDigger's lead, take a look at 300.3(A){'11} which covers most conductors & their installation.
