why are two grounds required on a panel just double protection?

upgrading a panel on the 2nd floor of a house too 100a and will be running the grounds on the outside of the house # 4 copper for both?

Re: cold water ground and panel ground ?

It is a myth. You only need the second rod if the first one presents more than 25 ohms. But you would have to prove it, so it is easier to drive two rods and go home.

Also, you only need to run one conductor (can be a #6) which can attach to both rods and water piping.

Re: cold water ground and panel ground ?

Just a question, is this panel the location of the "main" service disconnect?

Re: cold water ground and panel ground ?

Just curious: How many conductors are feeding the panels?

Are the panels fed with SE cable?

Do the panels have one main or six?
