Color Coding on Negatively Grounded DC Systems

Guess who I am?

I take AC voltage and convert it to DC. For example I input 480 VAC and convert it to DC 48 VDC regulated at 660-amps maximum current. My human installers really screws up and installs a bolted fault of a 750 MCM “U” jumper right across my terminal output.

Since I the Rectifier have been listed and tested I supply 600-amps all day long at 48 VDC, but I fold back my voltage above 600-amps and limit output current to 660-amps or 110% maximum regardless of the load resistance. Am I utilizing power or controlling current? Keep in mind you shorted my output and I do not care because you my human installer installed cables that can handle all my current all day long 24x7x365. I do not care if I am over-loaded or not, I can handle it.

Every Rectifier I have used in my applications is listed as UTILIZATION EQUIPMENT. That is all the inspector and I needs to know. :D

Dereck if I install a typical UL listed PA amplifier it is without a doubt utilization equipment on the load side of a power outlet.

If this is in a public building does the NEC apply to the class two output?
