So my friend call me saying that the cable guy told her she needed an Electrician, I decided to come and see what this unusual request was. I thought may be the carriage house did not have an rg6 run. Got there the cable was hanging by the tv and at the outside wall where subpanel was mounted. I don’t know why but I entertained it and terminated the cut rg6 outside and placed it inside a box with a bonding connector ready for the installer to bring his cable ,push it up the connector and screw it in the bonded terminal. Bonded per 820.93,820.100. Then a second installer comes today and says I need to run the cable to the post. I called Comcast to complaint and they told me don’t let the installer leave call his supervisor. I’m reading online they are Pay so low some try to get away with only doing easy installations.

I ran across an independent contractor for Comcast. He was like a troubleshooter to fix stuff that the regular Comcast techs could not figure out. He had all kinds of neat toys to play with.

I have begun to wonder if they have any employees at all.

There is something to be said for employees over contractors, or at least there once was. My neighbor on the SF peninsula could not get decent DSL and there was no cable internet available, so she checked out a point-to-point service from Comcast (I think). The central antenna was about 10 miles away but her two story house had some large trees in the back yard.
A contractor came out and wandered all over her roof with a signal strength meter and declared that she could not get service. The office insisted that it should be possible and sent out another contractor. Same story. So they sent out a long time company employee.
He got up on the roof, and two minutes later started installing the antenna and shortly had her service working.
She asked him how he managed to find the right spot so easily. His reply: "Simple. I just walked to where I could see the antenna tower."

They don't get paid unless the customer is up and running. However, it pays to throw a time consuming job because they might be able to do two or three easy jobs in the same amount of time. When you are getting paid a fixed amount per customer, volume is how you make your money.
