An occasional POS station is the only occurance I can see the 'need' for an IG recep.

Me too, but they are coming built into the cook lines. Also if the drive up window is next to the kitchen area then it is in the kitchen / food prep area. I'm not one to let them start playing games by calling it something else. Same with the front registers.

Depends on if you're wiring a 'restaurant', or a 'fast-food joint'.

Whats the difference? 210 does not differentiate the two. I would look at the art. 100 def.

Kitchen. An area with a sink and permanent facilities for food preparation and cooking.
Doesn't this cover both?

A 'restaurant' is likely to have POSs at the front door, a take-out counter, the bar area, the managers office and a couple of waitress stations. Last restaurant I did had 9 POSs, but only one in the kitchen.

A 'fast-food joint' will have all the POSs behind the counter, technically in the kitchen.

Yes I will agree that there is a difference. I was thinking fast food when I answered since I just did a final at a Taco Bell this afternoon and just finished doing a Del Taco last week.

In a fast food you almost have to consider everything behind the counter as kitchen or food prep. In a resturant, there is usually a clear distinction.

I can see where the outlets will end up..most owners are more Leary of working in panels then they are of changing an outlet..

Oh I get it now, your trying to prevent people screwing up your work in the future............. forget it, you can't. :) If they want to mess with stuff after I am inspected and gone I really don't care.
