I'm putting in to ovens in a restaurant in VA. The panel box is in the same room as the ovens about 30' away. Is there a need for a disconnect beside the ovens?

try the requirements of 422.31, 32, 33, and 34 you would be judge regarding the circumstances that apply

If under a class 1 hood system, the ovens must disconnect automatically on ansul system actuation.
The disconnecting means can be as simple as a single pole switch if the switch operates a contactor which also operates when system is under alarm.

don't confuse fire suppresion with Code requirments. the appliance needs a disconnect to comply with art 422 regardles of a ansul system.

Are they hardwired or plug?

If plugged that should serve as the disconnect (barring local ammendments).

If hardwired...somewhere in cpal's msg will get you there :)

Hardwired but the panel box is in line of site in the same room. Doesn't 422 say no disconnect is needed if the circuit breaker is in the same room and the ovens are 208V.
