Re: commerical meter can

This is not an Electrical Instructor topic, so it is being moved to a NEC thread. Please continue your discussion there. :)

Re: commerical meter can

I would call it the "NEC Topic Area." This is now one thread in that Topic Area.

Re: commerical meter can

You can surface mount the conduit on the exterior or interior wall or install it in the wall if the conduit is small enough, what are they using to frame the wall. If 2x4, running conduit in the wall isn't going to work. Why install it in the wall?

Re: commerical meter can

With the properly listed wire you should be able to run inside walls. Because it's a commercial job, I would recommend armored cable. :p

Re: commerical meter can

I finally understand the question. You want to know if the feeder needs to be in conduit. That will be determined by the type of construction. Just because it's a commercial building doesn't mean that anything needs to go in pipe. Check on your prints and see what type of construction you are dealing with. Also check the specs. because the engineer or owner may require pipe. The NEC will tell you what's legal and the Specs. will tell you what you are getting paid to install ( many times this will be above code ).
