Computers on a circuit

We generally use the blue-colored receptacles for UPS power, Red for generator, and orange for whatever poeople have decided to use them for, could be gen., UPS, or isolated neutral. I usually like to have both UPS and gen. or house power receptacles at a desk. This is sometimes not possible though with the pre-fab furniture with only one circuit. But we also follow the 2 workstation per circuit methodology with printers on their own circuit.

How many computers can you put onto one circuit. I have heard that if you put too many, it can start acting funny.

I don't mind 3 to a circuit. I would probably limit that to 2 if they also have local printers, or other accessories.

The newer LCD monitors use a lot less power than the older CRT's, so that helps keep power consumption down.

I might use isolated grounds if there will be other equipment connected to the computer. Do the radio's or telephone systems tie into the computer system? Computers are actually very imume to noise. After all, they turn the AC into DC before using the power, and that filters out most noise.

As far as "acting funny", anything powered by microsoft is going to act funny, even with a dedicated circuit.

For a 911 center, I would probably give more thought to surge supressions than isolated ground receptacles.
