I like the carbide tip hole saw with teeth not the grit. It will cut the backing board without changing hole saws.

My wonderful son/helper broke out a brand new carbide tooth hole saw to cut in for a light box through hardy board. 5 min. later I had a brand new hole saw that needed dentures because it had no more teeth left.
