Conductor Applications

Hi at all, and I have a doubt about conductors. I would like to know what kinds of conductors are usually used to next applications:
- On a roof feeding a heavy loads (inside a conduit).
- Feeding motors (normal applications like elevators, air conditioning, and other motors).
- Lightning loads and outlets inside metallic or non-metallic conduits (to build conduit into walls).
I know that in NEC table 310.13 there are many kinds of conductors, but are too many and I dont know what are usually used.

I think it's safe to say the most common building wire used in conduits in the U.S. is THHN/THWN (Cu), with aluminum, probably XHHW.
