I live in the mountains where snow, rain, hail, wind, and dry heat are a year round occurance. At my service entrance just after the splices and before the weatherhead, the insulation of my #2 conductors type THW (A & B phases)
have been worn of and the aluminum wire is exposed! I bought this home a year ago and sadly just noticed this major emergency. What type of insulated wire should I use when I change the old wire out to avoid this problem in the future? I've had different anwsers from different Sr. Journeyman.

I think I've found my own anwser on this web site.... I believe I need XHHW-2. Is this correct? Or is there an upgradeable type?
