As long as the cubic inches are permanently marked on the conduit body. Had an inspector burn me on that one once. PVC LB no markings but the guy is a notorious nitpicker.

but why are we splicing in a conduit body. 2 wire splice should max out any conduit body. yet i have seen many of coils spliced in LB's.

In order to splice 2 #16 awg to 2 #14 awg, you'd need at least a 3/4" LB,LR,T, or C. http://www.appletonelec.com/PDF/AEC%20FM9.pdf

I see it all the time, too.... Half inch LB, or maybe a T with several #14 wires continuing on through with two of them spliced to a solenoid coil.

Actually in many cases , there does seem to be plenty of room, though.

A 1/2" C or LB with 2 - 14's spliced to 2 - #16's is gonna look half empty...

or is it half full?...

I'd like to be an optimist, but I just don't think it'd work out.:wink:

Besides splices in an unmarked LB I have a problem with Electricians that over fill a LB.
Just last week I had a contractor that had a 3" LB with 4 350 KCMIL conductors in it.
Stamped in the LB was: Max no. conductors :3 - 4/0 .
