Don, then why would the tables include one and two conductors?

I redid those tables years ago because of an error. If my memory is correct the formula includes the percentages based on the number of conductors

40A * 45% = 18A

That's at the 90 degree column. But i believe you use 90 degree for derating? So you are correct.

I agree otherwise how could you include one or two conductor fill and be accurate?
