So attached is the downlight I’m referring to and the layout on the drawing. You could not pipe right into the housing?

There are reasons that running EMT in to the fixture would be impractical or more difficult, but nothing in code that prevents it, and in some cases codes that prevent them being flexed to. AHCA in Florida was not allowing it in hospitals for a while but I think they have come around. When the ceiling is hard lid and MC isn't allowed, I expect my guys to run conduit not flex.

NC DHSR and some local NC inspectors tried to require the same thing based on 517.30(C)(3), the problem was 517.30(C)(3)(3)d, the requirements of IBC chapter 7, and CISCA (grid ceiling installation in seismic categories) which basically says it is necessary to have a flexible connection to items attached to the ceiling grid.

Sounds like you need to submit an RFI. in NYC you could use mc/bx/ or fmc but your spec might not allow it basically your allowed to by code, but the spec is what your going off of

I understand. But curious if you has spec that read like mine(full EMT) would fixture tails(FMC) be accepted. I know yes by code.

Is FMC listed in your spec? If so, what are uses permitted for FMC?

Did you look in the lighting section of your spec?

But if you use 4 sq boxes with whips and it is a sheetrock ceiling, then access panels must be provided for the 4 sq boxes.
