If two 4-Conductor #12 cables (UL-1309 Shipboard, Marine Use) are passed through a 2" metal conduit rather than securing it to a cable tray, does the rigid conduit absolutely have to be fitted with a plastic bushing? This is on a portable 21k gallon diesel tank that is moved by truck from location to location.
The manufacturer says NO because the cables are double insulated and it's no different than securing it to a metal cabletray. I have required that they grind all of the inside of conduit to eliminate any sharp edges. Will this fly or get hit for code violation
Thanks

Re: conduit/raceway or cable tray?

Why would you opt for grinding the conduit as opposed to a $.50 bushing?

Re: conduit/raceway or cable tray?

A fifty cent bushing is impossible to find smack in the middle of China, so they say. These units are being built here to be imported to the US.
Also the laber to grind the rigid conduit is much cheaper than a fifty cent bushing as well, at least in this part of the world.
