Article 410.15 of the NEC allows light poles to be used as conduit provided they meet the given criteria. Can you use any hollow steel structure as conduit provided it meets the same criteria? I'm trying to provide power to the top of a permanently mounted umbrella style canopy. The canopy is being supported by a 6" by 6" hollow steel column.

I would think that it would need to be listed as a raceway. You could install a cable within the column if it's not a raceway.
