Is 3/4 inch aluminum pipe considered emt or ridgid ?
Just use plenty of oil, and good sharp dies. Aluminium will tear out so easy of you're using the same beater set of dies you always use.

Jack Benfield always said to mark with a sharp pencil. Heck, half the time in the dim lighting we work in, I couldn't see a pencil line to save my life.

Buddy - install some lights on your jobs....

Might I suggest a tower of 54w t-5 HO's..... You can mount it on wheels - like a big glowing cart.

ticonderoga pencils make very dark marks on emt alot easier to see than crappy dollar store pencils, but much prettier than sharpie (ughhh)

I am a firm believer in absolutely NO sharpie on conduit, regardless if it is hidden in a wall or exposed.

... you wont see any sharpie marks here, buddy :)

Yuppers, nice work for sure. That same can of WD-40 will remove sharpie from conduit too. On GRC (like 4") I'd rather use a sharpie than a pencil so that there is no doubt in the head when you pull the trigger to make multi-shot bends. Funny, I normally have a 4 x 4 sitting around to get my conduit out of a frame bender so as not to mar it up like a single jack does....

I live/work in mid Arkansas around the Little Rock area.. those pictures were taken in Harrison, Arkansas at a new Hospital addition that is just being completed as we speak

Oh but I do.... it says, "2CH1" inside one of those panels.... ;) Or is that a "Mark-a-lot"

Anyway - nice work. I see you too are a believer in 9-12's in 1/2" and ribbons of pipe.

The alternative being 16 or 28 10's in 1" or 1 1/4".... Taking out a 1/2 a panel of circuits each.

I'm not following this. 28 #10's would be good for 18A each?

Not all need to be current carrying - up to 20 can be and still be good for 20A. And are you really going to load them all to 20a?

Anyway my point was - some have other methods - I too stick to 9-12's in 1/2" most of the time.

Electric Heretic!

uhm.... try one full boat per 3/4

yes ... thats a,b,c,neutral,egc

per 3/4 pipe

this is a Hospital

Nabco doesnt use 1/2 inch pipe...

cuts down on workers comp claims rising from well-placed red wirenut shooting.... ;)

seriously.... i have seen about 200 feet of 1/2 inch emt at this place in almost 3 years

and most of those panels are not 42 circuit... if they are then theres prolly 10 circuits or more per panel that are not used per the prints... they design this stuff for future additions is what i am seeing

if i see a helper use a sharpie to mark a pipe ill rip it off the wall:grin: pencils only when they work with me. nothing to me is more ugly than seeing black marks all over aperfect pipe run

Sorry looked like 1/2" from this side of the display - 5 conductors per 3/4 pipe - serious over kill... If they are planning for the future - maybe pull some wire too.
