I have a counter that is 30" wide. Customer would like the least number of receptacles.

If I read 210.52(3)(C)(1) correctly:

... Receptacle outlet shall be installed so that not point along the wall line is more than 600mm (24 in) measured horizontally from a receptacle outlet in that space.

I can install 1 receptacle in the middle of this space and be code compliant.

Make sure you install a single instead of a duplex if you want to go truly minimal.

What he means is a single receptacle would be minimum code, but that would cost more than a duplex.

I thought it meant that it would be cheaper to run a conductor down beside the stud nearest the power panel, and putting the receptacle there, instead of running additional wire to the center of the wall space, and finding a way to mount a receptacle some distance from a stud.

I have a counter 30" wide in my home, and I wish the electrician had put two receptacles instead of the one. I have another counter 30" wide where they didn't put any receptacles. Of course the house was wired in 1960.

Talk the homeowner into two receptacles. Chances are 45 years from now the new homeowner will thank you
