Contactor and transformer enclosure

I would like to mount a 220vac/24 vac transformer and a 220vac, DPST, NC, contactor with a 24vac coil in a
junction box. The application is to disconnect a motor when a 24vac sensor switch is activated. I was told by a electrician
that the transformer should be mounted outside of the junction box. Can anyone give me a hand with this?
