Just put a suitable enclosure for the transformer and a 15A fuseblock next to the ATS connected with a nipple. You can use 14ga wire to the generator side. You're going to have to figure out how to connect the #14 to the lugs since they aren't listed for both wires.
Geeze engineers. :happysad:

So a ordinary 3AG fuseholder https://www.amazon.com/FUSEHOLDER-B...id=1503376929&sr=8-1&keywords=3ag+fuse+holder will be legal err compliant? That's my kind of easy.

Most xfer switches have
user available control power present before xfer
a set of contacts that operate prior to xfer
an adjustable delay before xfer
no need to reinvent the wheel

cobbling something together that is not listed by modifying a listed device may not be a good idea

ATS Pre-Signal Feature

ATS Pre-Signal Feature

See attached thread that I wrote in response to another post on this forum. The title states elevator presignal but it functions the same as any load disconnect, motor disconnect, etc. As Ingenieur has stated many times here this feature has been offered by almost all ATS manufacturers in the commercial and industrial markets, whether old or new; not sure of the residential units.
I have designed and installed control schemes for older ATS's that provide dry contacts to disconnect various types of loads prior to transfer then reset after transfer. This may be required in your case if this feature is not provided or supported by the ATS manufacturer.
