My current ground is copper wire hooked not clamped onto my cold water pipe.

I want to change this to 2 8' ground rods.

Would it be ok to add a grounding clamp to the water pipe and extend to the first ground rod?

Also will be using 2 ground rods 16' apart as per NEC.
Am looking at #6 wire.
Also see bronze and zinc ground clamps. Which is better? I know copper would be preferred.
Thanks
