#6 copper clad steel is definitely is not electrically equivalent to #6 copper. Even if it was acceptable to use per the NEC I'm guessing you would need to use a much larger conductor.
To carry a high voltage, high frequency lighting current maybe not as large as you might think.It is just a gec.
And even with copper if going to a single rod or to a CEE we only have to run #6 or #4 maximum even if you had 2000 amp service conductors, structural steel and water pipes is mostly where it might need to be larger.
