8/3 Romex 125' $133 at Home Depot.

Good thing the keep the heart defibralator near the check out.
I needed it.
I think I would have got myself some SER.
The sudden spike in copper actually caused us to hit the brakes and call the GC's to adjust. "If we walk into a house right now we lose $1200. I'm not saying our profit will be lower - I'm saying we literally could cut them a check for $1200 to wire their house."

With the lunacy of the past couple weeks, it appears we are going to change to SER for ranges and dryers. I don't see the price falling anytime soon.

If it levels off, I imagine everybody can adjust and just start charging accordingly.

Everything is going up !!! We bought 2 semi trailer loads of copper and several lifts of conduit last month. All total I think it was around 300k. Now I check the prices on what we bought and it would cost double that now !! Talk about buying at the right time. If we purchased just the wire for these 4 projects now we would automatically go in the hole on profit. I just hope we have enough oversupply to ride out this storm. But for the future anything I bid on will have to have the current prices in the estimate.

. One such opinion is that we are getting a royal screwing from "big oil" as they like to be called.

Why isn't anyone calling foul on the government? Aren't they also making record profits on their taxes? I know our company can find ways to operate more effectively. Anyone ever check into buying Lowe's and Home Depot coupons on Ebay??? Save tons of money on wire, etc. We have also converted to some S-10 pickups as service vehicles instead of driving 3/4 ton pickups with 8 cyl. engines. Always a way to shave the cost back and if you don't think there is then you are lying to yourself. We have become to comfortable with $2 oil prices and investment in technology towards alternatives is the only way we will curb our energy spending. My prediction is that $4 gal gasoline is only a year away...so don't get comfortable with your company's fuel bills as they are!
