An outside pedestal-mounted GFI receptacle w/in-use dome type cover serves a septic system lift station.

The cord/plug is exposed from the underground reservoir cap to the pedestal. The cord only says "moisture resistant", but I was wondering about UV. Calls to manufacturer have yielded no answer yet.

Anyone see this kind of equipment set-up?

I would install the recep. in an 8x8 Carlon wp box and sleeve the cord thru a piece of 2" PVC into the tank.

I am not sure if that violates 400.8(6) or not but it is an excellent way to protect the wire.

We sleeve the cord at all of our sewer plant lift stations/sumps. I'm not sure if it violates 400.8(6) either. But it keeps the weed eaters and lawn mowers from causing a bigger hazard.

I agree. This is SOP in my neck of the woods.
