cord and plug FAU's

Hey Gang -

I need your help. Having a running discussion here concerning 2002 NEC article 422.16, flexible cords.

My contention is they are not allowed on a FAU placed in the attic of a single family residence. It does not qualify because it is not readily removable and the FAU is not intended or identified for flexible cord connection.

Everyone else (11) here disagrees with me.

My question: Who/What department do I contact within NFPA for a formal response to my interpertation? Anyone know the process?

Any light on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Thanks for the link. I know it will take a long time, but I am tired of getting "opinions" and "interpretations", not a clear, definitive answer. Lots of questions cannot be answered clearly, but this is becoming a major issue and I would like it properly resolved, with a verifiable paper trail.

Frustrating days, sometimes..........could be worse....could be a Raiders fan....

If it makes you feel any better, I also think this is the wrong place for a flexible cord. I think 400.7 and 400.8 also supports that conclusion.
