I have a customer that needs some power in the center of the kitchen where they have back to back prep tables. My first thought was to drop a w/p box with SO cord out of the ceiling with a gfci recep in it. Of course, I won't have the cord in the drop ceiling itself as this would be a violation. Does anyone see any code concerns with a cord drop in a kitchen? I'd be open to other design ideas as well. Thanks in advance for the help!

As long as the cord has the proper strain relief, ie a Kellums grip, I dont see a problem.

My suggestion is to forget the standard WP box and use a malleable steel FS box with a single hub or better yet a true 'pendent box'.
