OK guys I'm setting up a new gangbox and want to make this thing user friendly. It is going to have lights in it. This is a large Knaack 112 with shelves. It will be setup for control guys so a lot of little parts and pieces. We all know how well lighting is in plants and back in boiler rooms.

I want to add a power port so we can charge batteries, power lights ,ect. We will not be pulling any heavy amps off this. What I'm looking for is a cord reel that acts in reverse. The male cord end would be pulled out to the receptacle. The reel body would be hidden in the box permanently mounted.

I can take a cord reel and swap the dead front and live front, but that voids any UL listing thay it might have. Has anyone seen such a thing?

I had a male receptacle front on the old box. That just makes it easy for the cord to grow legs at night when not as many eyes are there.

IMO once you buy the cord reel you're free to do whatever you want with it, now OSHA or some other agency might have something to say about it.

McMaster Carr has a manual rewind cord reel that has NEMA 5-15 outlets on the side. You supply the extension cord to wind on it. I have one, and they are pretty sturdy and work well.

Posting from my phone so please excuse the sideways image. I can't figure out how to rotate when posting a pic from my phone.

I added some LED roll lights and 2 door switches. They make life nice when in a dark shop.
