Core Drill Labor Units

So NECA labor units have different labor units per 1/2" increments. Is there really a time difference between a 1" or 1-1/2 core...same for 2 to 2 1/2" I labor 1 and 1-1/2" the same and 2 to 2 1/2" so on and so on.

Other than the actual drill time, the labor does not change for coring holes. The set up time and clean up time remains the same. On my industrial jobs, it would probably be 2 guys for 4 hours and I will use that no matter what size the core is.

Thanks. So you are saying there is more drill time for a 2" compared to a 1-1/2"?

The larger the hole the more time it will take to drill it, add rebar add time. Not sure how much to add but concrete cutting companies charge more for larger holes, I forget how much

Yes there is a bit more drill time as you increase bit size. Probably not enough to worry about.

And the larger the hole the more likely you are to hit a rebar (or two.)

And if it is right on the edge of a large hole where you have a lot of the cutting bit in the rebar, that really does slow you down.

Critical for pre- or -post-tensioned concrete slabs because damaging a tendon is a serious (expensive) structural problem. And potentially a serious safety hazard as the ends explode out of their holes.
