To apply correction factors in finding ampacity of a conductor, table is used. Now if the ambient temperature starts at 70F, how would you apply the correction factor if it were below 70F, for example: 50F ? Even though I live in miami, there are places in the country subjected to that climate. What happens then?

70?F is as low as the bottom of T310.16 goes, so if the conductor is installed where the ambient temp is no more than 50?F, you can at least get a little help from the 70? line, but no more.

Keep in mind the entire conductor must be at the ambient temperature, not just a part of it (say, inside a commerical cooler or freezer). If it goes through an area that's subject to 100?F, then you use the 4th line of the Correction Factors.

thx dude, the NEC should address that table though in the future. i mean, add a note or something to shed some light in that grey area for others. even though the ampacity goes up , i guess the NEC doesnt want smaller wires being used for equipment that already has a code behind it such as 240.6and 110.14(c).
