corrosion protection of romex connectors

Can I use a regular "rust proof" lacquer spray can paint to prevent oxidation of romex connectors?

I guess this is part of the new code, but I forgot where is is. I understand that the protection extends to all interior and exterior connectors. Help again!

What you are asking is not a NEC requirement. Corrosion protection of field cut RMC and IMC threads is, currently in the 02 code it only has to be an approved product, the 05 will require a listed product, the only one I know of is T&B Kopper Kote, it "gets home before you do". I use Burndy Penatrox E, same stuff but its in a tube.
