Hello forumers,

Anyone with experience in warehouses?

What will be, approximately (for electric only. 277/480/2,000 AMPS) the cost per sq' to build a 100,000 sq' (400'L x 250' W x 35' H) warehouse with 5,000 sq' of offices?

I know there are many factors involved, but think in a standard warehouse with 15 docks (25' x 15' = 375 + 25' offices) Etc.

I appreciate your opinions.

Hi Mark,

English is my second language and I don't understand that expression, would you clarify for me?

I make a motion to move this out of the NEC thread into an appropriate one like estimating.

Well, I think many here including myself use the "New Posts" tab and really don't pay much attention to the particular forum.

No way can anyone here answer your question. We don't know your cost of being in business. For instance, do you have a shop where you are in a lease at $2,000 a month, or do you work out of your house? Are you working alone, or do you have a crew? If so, how many? What do you pay them? Bennies?

We also don't have enough specifics about the job to even venture a guess. In other words, we can't tell you how long it will take to hang a light fixture because a ceiling at 15 feet has a different labor cost than a ceiling at 30 feet.

Well, I hope this post won't cause too much controversy. Warehouses are light industrial and there, for sure will be some standards. For bidding purposes to a customer it will not make any difference if you work from a leased shop, home or under a bridge, if your expenses are higher than others and you cannot compete then close the business. I was asking an opinion, I have a sub bid for $2.65 sq', that is a $265,000.00 and I think that amount is excessive. If anyone there wire a warehouse he/she will have some notion, as per example, I know that the cost to build a warehouse ran around $70 sq', but that is total and I am looking approximately costs on electric. If a person already wired a warehouse and have the experience then he/she will know what is involved ... coolers wiring .... HVAC wiring ... luminaries .... Transformers ... alarm systems .. etc., but is a person never wired one, then that person knows nothing and of course don't have an answer.

So you're saying the expenses you have to bear in order to stay in business has no bearing on how you bid a job????

Again, too many variable to even SWAG it.

All warehouses are not alike. Dry storage, cold storage, freezers? Is the dry storage heated or cooled? Ceiling height? High bay lighting? Any conveyors? Electric forklift chargers? Automatic doors? On and on.

It would not be fair for anyone to bid a job, sight unseen.

$2.65/ft? Send me a PM with his name and number, I can sub work to him and stay home and collect "mailbox money". Seriously, it's a decent # without knowing all of the details.
